DIGITAL DESIGN FOR Kijitora

creative direction + content + graphic design

Social media manager at KIJITORA Inc. — one of NYC’s most popular and beloved cafes for specialty matcha and espresso drinks, Japanese food and pastries, and more. In charge of all creative direction and content creation, editing and posting, managing engagement, and pursuing a clear and consistent aesthetic vision. In this role I am continuing to grow and develop a social media presence for a company that already has a big in-person following/customer base.

A look behind the process of my work…

LAUNCHING THE SPRING MENU

Staying consistent with themes of pink and sakura (cherry blossom) included in the spring menu, I chose to shoot in front of the blossoming trees in Tompkins Sq. Park. I brought each drink over to the park and assembled there, then shot and edited the content focusing on aesthetics and the sounds of spring. Content spread between two posts — a photo slide (using images below, insights shown on right), and a reel (far right)

A 3-photo slide post (shown below). Emphasizing themes of pink and florals, I used the sakura latte to capture the essence of mother’s day, featured next to a sweet card with consistent themes of pink and love to also advertise the beautiful cards sold in store.

MOTHER’S DAY

WHOLY MILK ANNOUNCEMENT

MATCHA PEACH FIZZ

Announcing the return of the matcha peach fizz — a summer favorite from last year that returned for this year’s summer menu!

A post displaying all of the cute trinkets and merchandise available for purchase in-store

EARTH DAY COLLABORATION WITH MALK

Post advertising a seasonal Earth Day matcha in collaboration with Malk and Earth Cups

The KIJITORA customers love Wholy Milk and had been waiting for a restock due to shopping delays at the company. In this post to announce it’s return, I focused on matching the brand color to a beautiful bush of flowers and greenery to emphasize the natural, healthy focus of Wholy Milk. Following that is a video of the milk being used for latte art, enclosed in an envelope to present the announcement like a gift.

ADVERTISING MATCHA TINS

This post was to advertise that the beloved matcha KIJITORA uses in their drinks is also available for purchase. The photo was taken in Nantucket, a widely recognized vacation spot.

CAT-THEMED LATTE ART FOR A CAT-THEMED CAFE

KIJITORA closely translates to “tabby cat” in Japanese, and much of the decor and trinkets in the shops represent the owner’s love for cats. It only felt right to display one of the barista’s adorable cat latte art, which she tends to do on hot drinks. This post was definitely a crowd favorite!

MATCHA TWO WAYS

A post to advertise to customers the matcha is now available as a cortado and a latte

FATHER’S DAY POST

“Cause nothing says Father’s Day like a tiramisu latte!”

BRUNCH ANYONE?

AZUKI RED BEAN MATCHA LATTE
